​Spark: The Creative Dance Project was a lifelong dream of choreographer Kristen Pittman.  The premise for her summer intenisve was simple. Cultivate creativity in young artists while creating a broad awareness of giving back to the community.  Kristen opened Rock City Dance Center in 2010, and as an acomplished choreographer and teacher saw a void in dance training.  "We are training our dancers to be technicians, artists and performers, but why are we not also training them to be creators?" said Pittman.

 

In 2014 the first ever Spark Project was hosted in Little Rock, Arkansas under the direction of Kristen Pittman. We are happy to continue this tradition for 2020! Dancers participate in daily master classes and seminars focused on creative expression.  The week concludes with an Emerging Choreographer showcase to premier new works on stage in a professional theater.  Come join us as a dancer or apply to be a Spark Emerging Choreographer - you are sure to experience an incredible week of growth and progress at Spark!
